Nigel Gasp Is Back!

July 1, 2017 by Z.A. Maxfield

Gasp!

Jeff Paxton came home from Afghanistan looking to put down roots. Instead his pregnant sister talks him into a job babysitting the volatile megastar Nigel Gasp. Nigel is stubborn, needy, and determined to be the center of attention everywhere he goes. Before long, Jeff realizes that something is bothering Gasp, and that keeping him out of trouble might be more difficult than he thought.

Nigel never planned on getting old. He simply assumed a hard drinking, hard partying lifestyle would take care of that. Now that he’s turning forty, he’s depressed and a little bit desperate. To Nigel, forty seems like a fine age to deposit his DNA and check out while he’s still on top.

The last thing Jeff needs is to fall in love with Nigel Gasp. The last thing Nigel expects is a whole new reason to live. But how can Jeff put down roots with a man who is never in the same place twice?

Love can be shocking. Gasp! (re-release) To buy, click HERE

“Nigel?”

“Truth or dare.” Soft.

Jeff had to catch his breath before he answered. “Truth.”

“One of my personas worked for you. I felt it all night. Was it Ivy the Librarian? Keiko the Kitten?”

“I’m not attracted to women.”

“Nigel Gasp?”

“No, not Nigel—”

“Gzzzzzzzt. Two dares, Lying McLiar.”

“You didn’t let me finish. Not Nigel Gasp, Nigel Hazard. It’s Nigel Hazard who works for me.”

Silence.

“Nigel?”

Nigel cleared his throat. “I’m here.”

“Truth or dare.”

“Dare,” Nigel whispered.

Jeff’s heart slammed against his rib cage. His legs fell open wider, and he thought seriously about pleasuring himself. “Yeah?”

“Dare me to do something.” Nigel’s voice dripped with challenge. “Dare me to do…anything.”

Happy Birthday America!

June 30, 2017 by Z.A. Maxfield

Happy Birthday America!

Crossing Borders is free this weekend. Exclusively at Amazon for now, Free for the Fourth! Get it here.

Tristan knows he’s got issues. His latest ex-girlfriend knows it, too. He can’t blame her for dumping him—even if she sent her brother to do it. Since he can’t stop staring at said brother’s package, he figures it’s about time to put a label on those issues. He likes guys.

He heads to the local bookstore with a foolproof plan to find someone to show him what he’s been missing. But who should crash his little adventure? Officer Michael Truax, who gave him a really expensive ticket back in high school for skateboarding without a helmet.

Michael has been trying to catch Tristan for years…to give him a second ticket. Suddenly faced with “Sparky”, all grown up and looking to get laid, Michael’s protective instinct kicks in—and presents him with an opportunity that’s hard to resist. After all, the kid must know what he’s getting into, so why not?

But when a man with a plan connects with a man with a hunger, the result is nothing short of explosive.

from *ZAM* Since I put Crossing Borders back out in ebook format, I figured what the heck! Make it free for the Fourth!

Drawn Together is back!

June 22, 2016 by Z.A. Maxfield

Drawn TogetherOne of the stories that started it all, Drawn Together is back in ebook format. I loved the old cover so much I asked P.L. Nunn, the artist who did the original cover, to do a slightly modified version of the same cover for the re-release. It’s similar but not the same and I love the colors so much!

For anyone who isn’t familiar with Drawn Together, it’s a road trip story full of humor and chance meetings and danger. It features an ordinary hero, his big crush, and his chance to prove that faithful knights sometimes get it right.

Just to be doubly clear, this is the same book, so if you’ve read it, tell a friend!

Available exclusively at Amazon for now, Look for it here!

Check out my Book Bub Bargain!

January 14, 2016 by Z.A. Maxfield

Family UnitI currently have a Book Bub deal going. Family Unit, the sweet and spicy family romance featuring middle aged lovers Rick and Logan is FREE until Sunday:

Re-Release of 2009 novel, Family Unit. A retired marine, Logan is methodical and conservative. Richard is a liberal pacifist who is pathologically afraid of guns. Yet the minute Logan sets eyes on Richard, his heart turns over like an old car engine and it isn’t long before his motor is revved and Richard is in the driver’s seat–even if it seems like each man is driving a different car.

Richard Hunter is parenting his grandson, and the kid–Nick–has had it rough. Richard vows nothing will stop him from creating a loving and stable home. Not even a tempting, red-hot relationship with a very attractive man. However, when Richard looks into Logan’s blue eyes it’s tough to stay focused.

It’s never easy to become a family, what with a temperamental eight-year-old, disapproving outsiders, and outright extortion attempts. But when push comes to shove, both Logan and Richard are committed family men who want to make a loving home for a little boy who needs them. Together, they’re planning to form a Family Unit, and they won’t let anything stand in their way.

The book is FREE until Sunday. You can either go directly to Amazon or if you’re smart, you’ll sign up for Book Bub Deals at Bookbub.com. I have discovered many new, and new-to-me authors at Book Bub, it’s as easy as signing up for a newsletter and then enjoying the free and discounted reads.

The book is available exclusively at Amazon for this deal, so you’ll only need one click to take home Rick, Nick, and Logan today!

Fall in love again!

August 3, 2015 by Z.A. Maxfield

Tomorrow is the day!

Get ready for the re-release of Crossing Borders. It’s been nearly ten years since I wrote that book. I was naive about the publishing industry. I was naive about people. I had no clue what I was doing. I had to get my daughter and her middle school friends to teach me how to punctuate dialogue.

Since I’ve written it a lot has changed. People don’t close their cell phones anymore and you can use your mobile phone in hospitals. The Healthcare Information Privacy Act makes it tougher to get information on a patient, but domestic parters have rights they didn’t used to have, and now marriage equality is the law of the land.

I had to really think about what I wanted to do with the book. Did I want to update the material and fix all my glaring mistakes, all the obvious signs I was a newbie writer who didn’t know what she was doing? Or did I want to preserve the experience for the readers who have shared how much they liked the book when they read it. In the end, I left Crossing Borders alone for the most part. It’s dated. It has technical flaws and factual flaws, but hopefully, it still retains its charm. Let’s do a rafflecopter! I’ll be giving away one signed print copy and three (3) ebook copies! The giveaway won’t go live until midnight, when the book does, and then, good luck!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

IF YOU HAVE READ CROSSING BORDERS THIS IS THE SAME BOOK. The only reason you might want it is for the very charming, handsome red-haired boy on the cover. Have you ever seen such blue eyes? Feel free to tell anyone you know who hasn’t read it how much you loved it. Spread the word far and wide.

Sparky is back in print and ebook from Samhain, Amazon, Barnes And Noble and BAM.

I’ve got a few copies I’ll be giving away at at GRL. But if the book means anything to you, please hit me up! I’ll get more if you want. Many people have mentioned Crossing Borders was their “male/male gateway drug”. LOL. My kids think that’s hilarious.

Here are five things you probably didn’t know about Crossing Borders:

  • When I originally wrote the book, it had an entirely different ending! One that, in retrospect, I am so glad I changed. Will I share what it was? No. Let’s just say that when an author makes an asinine choice and then changes it before the reader ever gets a chance to tell her all about it, it’s the better part of valor if she keeps it to herself.
  • Tristan’s and Michael’s mothers are both serious facets of my personality. I have been both those women (well, except the motorcycle part. I can barely ride a bicycle.) And that ginger boy Emma describes? The one who thought he wanted to be a priest? He sent me a sweet note after he read the book. *blush* I forgot I put that bit in.
  • One of my readers, who is now an editor for another publishing company, and had lunch Lucille’s after Border’s Bookstore closed. It was kind of a walk down memory lane. I’ve had readers tell me they live locally and they go to the places mentioned in the books for giggles. (Same with Long Way Home.)
  • I found out quite by accident that in California you don’t have to wear a bicycle helmet if you’re over eighteen. So there goes my plot! But some municipalities require helmets for all ages, as do many resorts, which is where I got the idea that it was illegal to ride without. As a side note: my husband suffered a crippling traumatic brain injury (as a young adult) in a pretty brutal bicycle accident. I recommend people wear them. All people. All the time.
  • I have received letters from people who hated the original Crossing Borders book cover and letters from people who LOVED it. And I mean…really loved it. Like…scary loved it. You can feel free to sound off about that or not. Writes don’t have a lot of control over their covers, but I picked the new guy. Totally, fell in love with all those freckles and said…”I want him.” Fortunately, no one thought I was a perv or anything and they liked him too.

I get to spend a little time at the spa today, which means quiet room and READING! YAY. Relaxation. *sighs*

I need to take a book to read and I’ve got two friends with new releases today! I CAN NOT WAIT. Eeny, meeny…

I love it when my friends and I have new releases! (You can play the home game by reading along with me!) Next week, Anna Zabo and I BOTH have Berkley InterMix releases, so stay tuned for more country boys and hot men in SUITS!

Sworn to have their lover’s kneel-mr-president, front, or any other side that needs covering.

Secret Service agent Kent Sinclair, head of POTUS security, thought himself prepared for every contingency. Until the First Lady—a woman who barely tolerates his presence—approaches him with a request that startles the hell out of him.

Carlene Broderick is frightened. With the weight of the country and impending war on his shoulders, her husband, James, is buckling under the strain. The key to helping him cope is the name he calls out in his sleep—and it’s not hers. It belongs to his fellow ex-SEAL team buddy. His ex-lover. Kent.

Without hesitation, Kent plunges into treacherous emotional territory, only to realize it’s not really him that James needs. The Commander in Chief needs to give up complete control in the bedroom.

To relieve that much pressure, Kent and Carlene must work together and declare a truce that rapidly heats up into something more. Something that leaves James caught deep in forbidden territory—torn between his beloved wife and the man he’s never stopped loving.

Product Warnings
Contains three forty-somethings discovering whole new sides of themselves, a rejuvenated marriage, and plenty of kinky fun. All brought to you by an ex-SEAL in a wetsuit, a bisexual President, and a First Lady with a tattoo on her ass.
