I got thrilling praise for Jacob’s Ladder from Night Owl Reviews, and I thought I’d share it here. It’s a Night Owl Reviews Top Pick, and the reviewer gave it a very long and thoughtful review. Among other things, she said:
Z.A. Maxfield has a lyrical way of writing that makes it easy to escape into the world that she creates for her characters. I admit that I’m not a fan of the first person narrative when it comes to reading romances. Honestly, I usually avoid them, because I really prefer to know what both my heroes are thinking and feeling. When I read St. Nacho’s 3: Jacob’s Ladder, I wasn’t bothered by this at all. She does such a great job at allowing us to see what the other characters are thinking and feeling through the eyes of the main character, that I found that it really isn’t an issue at all.

Congrats!!
Thanks Chris!
ZAM, I’ve finally read St. Nacho’s and Physical Therapy… and of course I’m kicking myself for taking so long to get to them.
You are an awesome storyteller and have moved up to get-it-and-read-it-right-away. I’m slow but I can learn.
Off to read Jacob’s Ladder – SQUEEEEE
Thanks so much Kathy K! So glad you like them… 😀
Congratulations on a great review! I can’t say I’m surprised they love it, since I always love your stories.
I am a huge St. Nacho’s fan (although a quiet one up til now, sorry!) but I’m terrible about keeping up on things, so I had no idea Jacob’s Ladder was even coming out. I came across it purely by chance at the end of a very challenging day. It was the perfect pick me up! So, thanks 🙂
And congrats again on a great review!
Thank you Nicole! I’m delighted you like St. Nacho’s. So glad you got a little respite from a tough day,
ZAM
Jacob’s Ladder was fantastic (I expected no less), congrats on the great review! It was definately spot on! Of course, I had to read the first two again before it though, just because. Oh, and while I was at it, I re-read Crossing Borders & Family Unit. (sigh) you really need to write faster! ha ha I’ve been watching your site, do you have a date yet for your July release? I know, I know, demanding!!
You’re awesome! ;o)
Hi Lisa! Thanks so much! YES! I do have word on my July release, look for it as early as tomorrow, July 9th! I just finished last minute prep on it, and it will be coming out exclusively from the MLR press bookstore as soon as they can make it happen! I’m sure that if it does release, I’ll post an announcement, links, and some little excerpts. I had a blast with Stirring Up Trouble because it’s about chefs in love and as everyone probably can tell from my work, I’m a TOTAL kitchen groupie… *sighs* Stay Tuned!
Tomorrow?!!! Wooo hooo! I’ll definately stay tuned – I’m looking forward to it!
You got a pretty darned good review on TwoLips, as well. Loved the book – as I do all your books! You’re one of the best at character studies and emotional journeys I’ve read. I also LOVED SN3. Thanks for being someone on my TBR pile that never disappoints. 🙂 Oh, and did you know SN3 and Drawn Together are the July bookclub selections on the Goodreads m/m loop?
Cheers!
Oh yes, thank you! I didn’t know about SN3 and Drawn Together, I’m doing a thing there this month as the author in the spotlight in an m/m group because of my new release, Stirring Up Trouble. Wow… I’m everywhere! 😀 Thanks so much for your kind words. Nice to know people out there are liking the work.
😉
