Here’s a little bit about Cynnara Tregarth:
Currently living in the state that resembles one of her favourite male body parts,(otherwise known as Florida), Cynnara Tregarth learned early how to read, write and entertain. Due to her mother, Cynnara spent way too much on books, but then again, it sent her on the quest for immortality. (She’s still looking for that.) Early in 2003, she found that route by getting her books published. Since then, she’s learned even more about love, life, sexuality, and how to annoy gods, goddesses, and siblings of all kinds. After her mom’s death in 2008, she spent time taking care of her health and relearning her craft. Now, in 2012, she’s expanding herself beyond romance into both nonfiction and mysteries. She’s not sure where it will lead, Cynnara is excited about turning the corner and allowing her life to be led to the fullest both professionally and personally.
HERE’s the snippet:
***** checked both her pirating and scientific schedules. If she notified ******* ahead of time, there shouldn’t be issues with food, rooms, or entertainment. In fact, entertainment might be one way to see into this overseer better. She typed a quick message into her console. A reply came almost instantly. “I see no problem. Master *******, let me officially extend an overnight invitation to the overseer. If we talk into the night, he won’t need to worry about leaving at a late hour. My staff will prepare a room for him.” ***** thought for a moment. “How many support staff will the overseer bring with him? Will he need a room for his fiancée as well?”
“He doesn’t like burdening a colonist such as you, Lady *****. He’ll bring a small support staff including the ship’s officers and myself.” Mr. ******* paused. A mechanical clicking could be heard over the open transmission. “I’m unsure about his fiancée, though I doubt she’ll want to travel after her ordeal. When I get a firm answer, I’ll notify your staff.”
“That’s fine, Master *******. I wouldn’t worry too much about inconveniencing us. We’re scientists; we’re used to unusual hours and people arriving in the dead of night.” She hesitated. “I’ve had some dealings with the pirate queen. Dealings that make me wonder if there might be a reason for her actions.”
“You’ve…you’ve spoken to the pirate queen? How come you haven’t reported this before?” His voice squeaked with shock.
***** smiled broadly. Score one for me! This was definitely going her way. Sometimes the gods of the universe were kind.
Adjusting her position in the chair, she answered, “I met the pirate queen on *******, which is not under FP jurisdiction. My home is my own territory, declared so by law.” She picked up the set of miniature gears, then grabbed a micro-screwdriver off her desk. As she spoke, she focused on taking apart the tiny pieces. “The pirate mistakenly landed at one of my space hubs. She willingly paid the docking fee. We spoke at some length about her adventures. If Overseer ********* wishes to know more, I’ll be glad to fill him in on the details, including some of her lesser-known haunts.”
Master ******* gasped. “You know—”
His surprise delighted her. It was playing out even better than she hoped. If the man was so easily shocked by this bit of information, then **** would be as well. The overseer was a different story. With him, she’d have to wait and see how he’d react.
“Yes, I’ve known for a while about a couple of her secret hideouts. I’m one of the top research scientists in our galaxy; finding a pirate is not hard. I’ve offered Sir **** help before and was rudely rejected, if you recall. Trust me, I have not forgotten.” Her hard tone emphasized how badly she’d been treated by ****, who still hadn’t followed up on her offer. Sir ********* should have responded before now—ten months after the fact.
“I apologize, Lady *****.” He cleared his throat. Scratching noises sounded over the transmission, letting her know this man wasn’t above using old-fashioned methods to take notes. “Mr. **** and the overseer will not let it happen again. Just after your conversation with Mr. ****, our office received orders to track down supplies stolen by pirates.” ******* cleared his throat again. “Perhaps if you allow us, we can make it up to you.”
She set the screwdriver down, then tapped the desk lightly in success. I like this guy already. ***** willed her voice to remain calm. “Indeed, we’ll talk about it further when you arrive. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me. My duty calls now. ***********, out.” ***** cut the communications. “Reject me when I try to help—oh yeah, Mr. ****, you’re so going to pay.” ***** punched a few buttons on her console, then waited until her communications officer answered. “I need you to prepare the tapes made of Miss ***** for review. We need to understand Sir ********* a bit more. See that I’m not disturbed.”
“As you wish, Captain. ******** out.” The communications went silent as her computer acknowledged the arrival of the file.
***** sighed, then tapped the transparent vid screen in front of her. The room filled with ****’s melodic voice. ***** had enjoyed the beautiful woman. What did such an exquisite lover find in a bastard such as Sir *********?
