Looking Forward…

July 23, 2019 by Z.A. Maxfield

On July 30, I will be re-releasing the book Jack: Grime and Punishment from the Brothers Grime Series. Lex Valentine of Winterheart design, who does many of my covers, created this awesome new graphic for me. This is the same book you remember, only with a brand new short story at the end featuring Skippy, Jack, Eddie, Gabe, and Ryan. Skippy is still probably my favorite side character, ever.

As an author, you sometimes look back and wish maybe you’d done something differently. In hindsight, I wish I hadn’t called Skippy’s wife Kelly Ann. How was I to know that a very famous Kellyanne was on the horizon and that I’d never see that name again without thinking about the one in the news?

In rereading, I’m still happy with these characters, with this book, with this idea. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them. Next month, look for Eddie: Grime doesn’t Pay, and in early September, the brand new Brothers Grime Novel, Gabe: Partners in Grime.

Here’s wishing you lots of shade trees, lemonade, and many ways to beat the heat this summer!

Stay tuned!

It’s July!

July 2, 2019 by Z.A. Maxfield

Can you even believe it? I am having a hard time imagining that half the year is gone already.

I’m working hard on the next book, which is the third in the Brothers Grime Series. It’s time to give Gabe and Dave their happily ever after… Past time.

I’ll be re-releasing each of the original Grime stories with some bonus material. You’ll hear more about that as the time gets closer. Look for Grime and Punishment to drop by the end of July, Grime Doesn’t Pay in August, and the third, Parters in Grime, in early September. The first two books are still available in Audiobook format.

I have no plans for the fourth except for drugging my dog. Ledger, our German Shepherd was so afraid of fireworks that he leaped out the second story window on Mexican Independence Day (September 16th) when we first got him. He came out of that just fine, but he was old when we adopted him, and he has, sadly, long since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but I miss him. I miss him at this time of year especially.

Our Watson doesn’t enjoy fireworks, and he gets anxious, but nowhere near as badly as Ledger. We give him extra cuddles and keep him inside and safe so he will be fine.

I wish everyone a bright, happy summer, lots of down time to read, and great family adventures! It’s hard to even write this without agonizing for those who have come to America looking for safety and freedom from want only to find the exact opposite. May we all remember who we are and what we stand for (and refuse to stand for) this year.
