St. Nacho’s Newest Residents

December 20, 2020 by Z.A. Maxfield

There’s a new man in town! Maybe you remember Tug from A Much Younger Man? Tug was kind of a jerk. A thief. An addict. So yeah…not a very awesome guy.

Enter the magical healing properties of a town like St. Nacho’s. Fate intervenes in the form of an OD and reintroduces Tug to Luke Greaves, the librarian who saves his life.

When I started this book, I intended it to be a sweet Christmas story half its length. But no matter how I looked at it, I couldn’t find a way to create a believable HEA, or even a good HFN for these two mens in a short book.

Because of Tug’s addiction, both men had to face their demons, recalibrate their expectations, and slow their roll before they could begin to have a relationship. And in the end, any HEA for a man with a lifelong, sometimes crippling health issue like addiction is by definition a series of HFNs that happen over and over, day after day, one day at a time.

I guess that’s why it was so compelling to write this book. I hope you enjoy it!

Happy Holidays, and I wish you the very best of New Years!

Mocktail Mondays!

February 19, 2018 by Z.A. Maxfield

Everybody loves a blue drink! This one is made from 3 oz. of chilled blue Hawaiian Punch, 2 oz. of chilled white cranberry juice, and seven up. Shake the Hawaiian Punch and white cranberry juice with ice in a cocktail shaker, pour into martini glass, add just a splash of seven up (so it sparkles). Garnish however you like. I prefer a cocktail sword with raspberries and a twist of lemon!

There’s always a reason to celebrate.

Of course, this mocktail will be the perfect accompaniment when you sit down to read Andi’s story, Honky Tonk Hellion, because while Andi enjoys her Fireball Whiskey, she knows that sometimes Moms have to stay on their toes.

A trip to the beach with Malcolm and Jonas calls for a pitcher of these! Andi’s story comes out TOMORROW. Grab your copy now!

Review copies available NOW!

January 29, 2018 by Z.A. Maxfield

It’s at NetGalley.com!

After a long wait, Honky Tonk Hellion Drops on 2/20/2018. For REVIEWERS, the book is already at Net Galley waiting for you to get a sneak peek. If you have trouble getting a review copy, drop me a line and I’ll see if I can’t help you out!

An all-new series from the author of My Cowboy Promises hits sultry notes as a woman shakes the dust off her small-town life.

An impulsive decision as a teenager forced Andi Chandler to put her dream of being a Nashville star on hold. Motherhood and a marriage of convenience have tied her down to the small town of Bitterroot, Texas. But now that her son is older and her husband is living life out of the closet, Andi’s ready to spread her wings and take another shot at the country music scene. Men, however, are a different story…

Malcolm never intended to catch Andi’s eye all those years ago at the rodeo. There were a million reasons it wouldn’t work—the age difference for one. He knew he should have stopped Andi from making a rash decision, but he didn’t and has lived with the shame ever since. Now that she’s a grown woman they can finally explore all those unanswered what-ifs—and just maybe, have a shot at a second chance at happiness.

The Wait Is Over!

July 7, 2017 by Z.A. Maxfield

All Wheel Drive

Healey Holly is battered, depressed, and looking to go to ground in his childhood home. He wants to rent the garage apartment, but it’s Diego Luz’s place now, and the last thing Diego wants is to share it.

Diego is recovering too—from the accident that put him in a wheelchair and the death of his mother shortly after. The garage apartment is where he’s keeping his mother’s things, and as long as they’re up those stairs and he’s down on the ground, there’s no way he can deal with his loss.  And that’s just how he likes it.

Healey believes in science. Diego believes in luck. It will take a blend of both, and some prayer thrown in besides, for these two to learn that it’s the journey and the destination that matters.
